“Getting over 600 people from all parts of the world
to the Snowy Mountains in summer was a huge undertaking but Campaign Marketing
made it all happen smoothly. Then there’s those thousands of other
things they did to make the event ‘the best ever’ –
from the opening ceremony and daily management, to the excitement of the
final evening’s entertainment”
Rob Staples, WFFC committee secretary
Less than six months out from the start of the competition, the World
Flyfishing Championships organizing committee needed to urgently review
the existing event management arrangement. Through its work with NSW Fisheries,
Campaign Marketing was recommended to the head of the WFFC committee,
Senator Shayne Murphy.
In quick time, we liaised with the 32 international fly fishing bodies,
organized their travel and accommodation, arranged their special customs
needs and prepared the venues for their arrival.
Campaign Marketing was also responsible for managing the media, raising
and managing sponsorship, conducting all ceremonial events, liaising with
the head of world fly fishing, Fips Mouche, managing logistics to and
from the fishing venues and the day-to-day management of the competition
and committees.
The following year, the World Fly Fishing Championships was held in England,
the home of fly fishing. The English organizers were so impressed with
our management of the 1999 event, they asked us over to advise their committee.
We also took on the role of Team Manager for the Australian team, helping
them to win a bronze medal in an extremely competitive environment.
